It was a cold autumn morning and Juan was getting ready to leave the house to go to work in the darkness when, suddenly, there were footsteps in the garden. Juan leaned out the window but there was nobody, so he was getting a little nervous. He asked out loud in the cold air who was there, but his question wasn't answered. If he had had any object near him at that moment, he wouldn't have felt so afraid because he would have been able to use it to defend himself. Juan was about to go out the door, when he heard his mother saying goodbye to him from the garden and with a mocking laugh. She had played a very bad joke on him!
