Spanish language Decir - To Say, Tell - Spanish Expressions
Decir has several different meanings and is used in a number of common expressions.
decir to say
to tell
(informal) to ask
to go with, match
to show, indicate, reveal
decir a alguien (informal) to be named
decir de todo a alquien  (informal) to call someone every name under the sun
decir digo donde dijo Diego to talk back what one said
decir entre sí to say to oneself
decir para sí to say to oneself
decir que no/sí to say no/yes
decir por decir to talk for the sake of talking
dar que decir (a la gente) to make people talk, provide gossip fodder
es decir that is to say, I mean
es mucho decir that's saying a lot
me permito decir que I'd venture to say that
ni que decir tiene que... it goes without saying that...
no hay más que decir there's nothing more to say
no hay que decir que... it goes without saying that...
no sé que decir I don't know what to say
no hay para qué decir of course
o por mejor decir or rather, in other words
querer decir to mean
ya es decir that's saying a lot
¿Cómo diríamos?
¿Cómo dijera yo?
How shall I put it?
¿Cómo has dicho? Pardon? What did you say?
como quien dice so to speak, in a way
como quien no dice nada casually
¿Cómo se dice ...? How do you say ...?
como si dijéramos so to speak, in a way
Decía... As I was saying...
¿Decía Ud.? What were you saying?
dicho de otra manera in other words

¡Diga!, ¡Dígame! (phone) Hello?
digamos say, sort of, for lack of a better word
digámoslo así so to speak
digan lo que digan whatever they may say
digo...  (Mexico) well, uh
¿Digo algo? Did I say something?
¡Digo, digo! Hey! Wait a minute!
Dime con quien andas y te diré quien eres. Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are.
dirás aquel otro you must mean the other one

Eso digo. That's what I'm saying.

mejor dicho rather, I mean

no quiso por el qué dirán he didn't want to for fear of what people would say
pero digo/dice mal but I am/he is wrong to say
por decirlo así so to speak

¡Si te lo digo yo! Yes it's true!
tragarse lo dicho to eat one's words
Ud. dirá it's for you to say; say "when"
ya me dirás tell me your side of it
y dice bien and he is right
