Quizás

The Subjunctivisor!

Does quizás require the subjunctive?

Quizás may require the subjunctive, depending on the certainty and reality of the subordinate clause:

Por ejemplo …

Quizás es a causa de la lluvia que no quiere ir.
Perhaps it is because of the rain that he doesn’t want to go. (it’s probable)

Quizás mi mamá tenga su número de teléfono.
Perhaps my mother has his phone number. (it’s unlikely)
