Ir – to go – is one of the most common irregular Spanish verbs. It’s used just like its English equivalent.

Yo voy al mercado. I’m going to the store.

¿Quieres ir conmigo?

Do you want to go with me?

More examples with ir

Ir + a is used to talk about things that are going to happen – the near future / futuro próximo:

Por ejemplo …

Voy a estudiar mañana. I’m going to study tomorrow.
Van a comer a las ocho. They’re going to eat at 8 o’clock.
