Spanish languageSpanish Past Participle

The English past participle is the -ed form of the verb. In Spanish, it's the -do form.

Formation Regular verbs
I. -AR verbs Drop the infinitive ending and add -ado.
hablar hablado
tomar tomado
mirar mirado
II. -ER verbs, -IR verbs Drop the infinitive ending and add -ido.
aprender aprendido
comer comido
salir salido
Formation Irregular Verbs
I.  Verbs with stem that ends in vowel - Drop the infinitive and add -ído.
caer caído
leer leído
traer traído
II.  Completely irregular past participles:
abrir abierto
cubrir cubierto
decir dicho
describir descrito
escribir escrito
hacer hecho
ir ido
morir muerto
poner puesto
romper roto
ser sido
ver visto
volver vuelto
Usage - The Spanish past participle is used mainly in perfect tenses.
   Present perfect He comido. I have eaten.
Past perfect Habían llegado. They had arrived.
Future perfect ¿Habrás trabajado? Will you have worked?
